Radioiodine Compounds of Human Urine after 131I Therapy
نویسنده
چکیده
The method cannot be used to measure the amount of each 13II-labelled compound quantitatively because of the losses of organic radioiodine (see Table 1) at each step. Quantitative analyses of the organic radioiodine fraction is probably best performed by removal of iodide on a column of silver chloride followed by butanol extraction and paper chromatography of the remaining organic iodine compounds. The method described here is primarily useful for concentrating the organic iodine compounds for qualitative study. Its use is limited to urines of relatively high radioactivity, at least 0 003 Kc of organic radioiodine/ml., and it is therefore not applicable to study of organic radioiodine compounds of urine after tracer doses of 131I. As the method is not quantitative, the relative amount of each component does not give any insight into the turnover of iodine in vivo, and may in fact reflect merely the efficiency of the method, some compounds being more completely recovered than others.

Multiple non-malignant iodine uptake in a 131I whole body scan of a patient with papillary thyroid carcinoma: Importance of SPECT/CT
After thyroidectomy in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) patients, whole body radioiodine scan (WBIS) is necessary for localization of any abnormal radioiodine avid lesions. However false-positive radioiodine uptake in WBIS can be problematic. We report a 32 years old female patient with PTC. After thyroidectomy and radioiodine therapy WBIS was performed. In her post therapy WBIS, there were zo...
متن کاملCan previous thyroid scan induce cytogenetic radioadaptive response in patients treated by radioiodine for hyperthyroidism?
Background: Induction of radioadaptive responses in cells pretreated with a low dose radiation before exposure to a high dose is well documented by many investigators. The aim of this study is to determine the frequency of chromosomal aberration in peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients treated by radioiodine (131I) for hyperthyroidism, with or without previous thyroid scan with 99mTc. Materi...
متن کاملEffects of early liothyronine consumption after radioiodine therapy on accumulated dose and exposure rate in patients with thyroid carcinoma
Introduction: Patients administered with a therapeutic dose of 131I for thyroid cancer treatment are potential sources of unacceptably high radiation exposure to other individuals, particularly the patient's immediate family members. The aim of this study is to investigate effects of early liothyronine consumption after radio-iodine therapy on accumulated dose and e...
متن کاملRadioiodine remnant ablation of differentiated thyroid cancer does not further increase oxidative damage to membrane lipids - early effect
INTRODUCTION Radioiodine (131I) therapy is widely accepted as an essential part of therapeutic regimens in many cases of differentiated thyroid cancer. Radiation-induced oxidative damage to macromolecules is a well known phenomenon. Frequently examined process to evaluate oxidative damage to macromolecules is lipid peroxidation (LPO), resulting from oxidative damage to membrane lipids. The aim ...
متن کاملEvaluation the early effects of single high dose radioiodine therapy on lacrimal gland function
Background: The therapeutic administration of 131I for thyroid remnant ablation and for metastases comes up with some adverse effects. This study was conducted to investigate whether single high dose radioiodine therapy affects lacrimal gland functions or not. Materials and Methods: Seventy-eight eyes of 39 patients, who were diagnosed as differentiated thyroid carcinoma, were objectively teste...
